Why I Love Tax Day: a Perspective From the Advocacy World

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

For all my conversion on the benefits of government and its many valuable programs, you think I’d be happy to pay my taxes. I mean, they contribute to funding for services that interest me, such as libraries, public broadcasting, social services, roads, housing and medical care. I’m also a fan of drinking water, schools and garbage pickup.
And yet I must admit I am not agreeable to the post today on all investments I have in our nation’s infrastructure, security and human services are excited. Perhaps because I am in the District of Columbia, where I really have no idea who to use towards the U.S. dollar (ah can live vote, the irony of the Advocacy Guru, no one to the lawyer!)
So I put in a good mood (and get my taxes Day Blues), I will have a positive spin on 15 April all feared. Yep, it’s true. Here is the Advocacy Guru Top Five tips for better feel on the day of the tax:
- The number one souvenir – what you get for your taxes: Although it sometimes feels like your tax dollars disappear into a black hole, the truth is that the assets in very cool things are actually invested. local currency go to local services such as fire and rescue, pick-up length and drains (the next time you throw something away or, think cleaning toilets). federal funding for roads, health care for older Americans and the poorest schools and a number of other important services. If you are curious to know where your taxes, visit the National Priorities Project and their control interactive graphic on the website www. nationalpriorities. org. You can see the amount of taxes you actually paid (if it does not make you cry) and determine where these funds went. So how do you do when you file your 1040 as a gift to you the programs you like best. That could help relieve the pain a little.
- Issue 2 – The lawyer for the benefit of the investments that will help: If you are where your taxes, and not like what you see, can be regarded as having, you know your elected officials! For example, if you pay $ 5,000 in taxes, you will notice that $ 2,100 went to the army and was a little over 1,000 in health services. For some people, these conditions are quite good: Others think it should go to non-military programs. Wherever you stand on the spectrum, let your elected officials what you think we should invest in a nation. You can reach them through a site like www. Congress. org
- No. 3 – Thank you for your legislators: Believe it or not, many people shouting their elected representatives, the day of tax. It is shocking, but true. Imagine the attention you get if you were one of the few people who call your legislator for investment, thank you approved. And yes, I really thank them call: in other words, not with a bad mood “Gee, Thanks a lot” message. Instead, let him know what issues you a fan of, and expenses that you are less enthusiastic. You would notice that your commitment to the programs that you will support you so much better if you take this approach.
- Number 4 – Do you have expenses in the election: If there is a lot less than thrilled with the feeling that one of the best ways to solve this problem, people in office who share your point of view obtained. And the best way is, in a campaign. This November people (you) can vote at the local level, state and federal candidates and the issues are. From City Hall Washington, DC The vote leavers “and” tramps new vote in. “We can even work in the countryside as a hobo or two. - No. 5 – Take a break: Honestly, I find a good glass of red wine really helped me in the process of filling tax forms and I am sure the IRS will enjoy my calculation of the Tax induced by alcohol. If something stressful just trying to be grateful that you at least have some income, pay taxes, is not it? There are too many Americans struggling to make ends meet (especially in the economic climate). So sit back, relax and enjoy the beverage of your choice, and just think he could not drink your glass without any type of taxable items!
